Here comes Abnabak all the way from Morocco with its self released demo "Under The Mask Of Humanity".The demo has an interesting cover artwork which is very abstract and touching to those who can understand and feel. What can we expect from a band that comes from Morocco? Here we go!

The demo starts of with "Misanthrope", a cold and eerie soundscape that will leave you to fall into the oblivion. The melody is very haunting yet very depressive to listen to but that's the best part of course. It feels like we're been stucked in a dream, longing for help but hope is all left with us.The sad journey continues with the second track "From War", a dreadful composition that will take us through war and hopefully we'll survive this. The structure is quite solid with basic guitar riffs but simplicity is the keyword to Abnabak's music and that doesn't fail to deliver at all."Hate" is the third track of this demo and again Abnabak managed to express some deep and meaningful feelings through its composition. The atmosphere and the sound defines the term hatred well and it's just simply full of pain, but somehow I felt that the song is unfinished as it's too short but who knows what is Abnabak up to?And the final tra ck "There Is A Period To Everything is one amazing track to wrap up the demo.Eventhough there are similarities with other tracks in terms of melody line and guitar riffs still it's a solid song and to me the best song to describe Abnabak's concept generally to the listeners.

This demo is a good start for Abnabak due to its one man band nature and originating from Morocco. With a lot of challenges and restrictions,Abnabak could have done more in near future and this demo will be a stepping stone to go further. For fans of depressive black metal or just black metal,Abnabak will do the trick!
