Cosmic Church have been a productive band since 2006 with multiple releases in the discography list which is a good progress for an obscure band from Finland. They've struggled to survive the wide black metal market as far as I am concern and that makes Cosmic Church a gem yet to be discovered.

Their latest offering and their second full length album "Ylistys", released on 11th October 2013 is breakthrough release after the departure Profundis (drums) leaving an impression on what is the future of Cosmic Church's release and the result is beyond imagination. Luxixul really did a tremendous job as a sole member to continue carrying the Finnish black metal banner higher than ever through Cosmic Church alone. With total playtime of 01:15:35,Cosmic Church delivered well through this album and that's not just it.Just like their past releases, the atmosphere is still haunting and went even deeper than we could have imagined. The sound is well balanced together with the cold ambiance behind the riffs and melody lines and also some slow passage decorates the music landscape of Cosmic Church. With enough powers of darkness and nature that surrounds the entire album, there is no doubt this is the most anticipated release by Cosmic Church.

There's a little bit of post rock feeling in this album but that doesn't kill the real essence of this Finnish black metal product at all. It's a good thing to incorporate other styles into one music and from there the creativity process will grow rapidly. But Cosmic Church smanaged to stand its ground with its own brand of black metal while keeping all the vital elements needed in the composition and not to forget the lyrics which is all written in Finnish and that's an advantage for Cosmic Church. With intense and sombre vocalization that really helped Cosmic Church to deliver whatever is in their lyrics; space, occultism, nature and of course satanism.Good production and a great cover this is what we call Finnish black metal at its best!
