27 years in existence, Doom's Heat finally have something under their belt to be represented to the extreme metal community. Their long awaited release "Leashed By Agony" EP surfaced in mid November despite the current situation came just in time to quench those thirsty death metal and extreme metal fans who have been hit by the huge impact for quite some time due to the pandemic. But that is not the end of everything so let us feel the Doom's Heat!

The EP kicks off with "Midnight Hellbanger", a title that might be too obvious and widely used but that is not just it. The composition is somehow groovy which is quite interesting as no melodic elements are lacking in the same time. Some local Malaysian Death Metal acts seems to influence the flow and arrangements but does not actually replicate them which is one good and strong point to start with. Everything is super tight in terms of guitar riffs and twisted solos.

"Rempuhan Kataha" starts of with sounds of clashing swords, straight to the point brutality dashing through without mercy. The intensity of the drums interlocking with the riffs resulting a few memorable parts including the first part of the solo which reminds me of Pestilence's "Twisted Truth" and quite nostalgic to be honest. Ahhh, those good old death metal days! And surprisingly there are some technical elements in it too, providing a different perspective in terms of soul and direction of this song.

The darkest song of all is "Tomb Of Hope" and as the title states, it is a well structured song with promising melody lines and catchy riffs to bang your head along. The huge and epic bass line starts of all the furious of this song, and fits in the modern sound of this EP, and that is how things should be nowadays. Unfortunately not all bands are capable to this extend but Doom's Heat did it well!

The fourth song on this EP, goes by the title "Barbarian Among Us" is the main highlight of this release, period. In between the melody lines there are some sickest flows of riffs intertwined beneath the groovy song structure. No doubt this is the perfect song to represent what Doom's Heat is all about and of course their identity and direction to be specific.

There is one cover song by the legendary Riot and as we all know it is "Thundersteel" just to add the heavy/death metal feeling to this EP and it is one of their inspiration and influence. Doom's Heat version of "Thundersteel" however delivered well and successful as their final track of "Leashed By Agony" EP. A great song by a great band covered by Doom's Heat!

This EP is quite an interesting release not only because of the 27 year gap but the selection of musicians in this recording which is quite a variety of musical background and benchmarks. They are 4 different vocalists including their original in this EP for each song and what I can say it that each one of them have their own style of delivering and the result is amazing! Some of you may know who they are so let us see if you guys can identify each vocals presented in this EP. Overall the guitar works and bass are well played and the drums are up to the par of groove Swedish Death Metal and with traces of Traditional Heavy/Power Metal! Clocking at 21:46 of total playtime, this should satisfy your lust for some old school death metal in a modern era and trust me you will thank me later after grabbing a copy! Feel the Doom's Heat as it is getting nearer and nearer to you!
