Gexerott is back with their latest album "Into Descensus Impious Ad Gloriam".This Colombian black metal act surprised me with what I call a moderate upgrade in their music and the result is just amazing.
The album starts off with a mellow intro and it fits well as it opens the appetite of the listeners and there are interludes between the songs which adds the feel to the enjoy the entire journey listening to it.Musically they reminds me of another band from Colombia called Infernal especially Gexerott's keyboard parts which is not dominant as Infernal but still the flow is going in the same direction with a different purpose. With some ocassional clean vocals incorporated in normal black metal music, that was just awesome and very touching to those who love the melancholic feel in black metal music while the extreme vocals are getting better and better from their demo and first album. As the comparison goes on, the music of Gexerott remains solid and the song structures are way more compelling in terms of blending the ingredients all together.
The atmosphere in this album is just nice for the a black metal genre as they didn't go over the boundaries of their genre of choice and managed to stand their ground with a little trace of death metal which is a good sign that they know what they're doing instead of being a typical black metal band from South America. As they've left their thrash metal elements behind the extremity of this album is just awesome just to know that they're from Colombia and unlike other bands with the same origin as them. With some cool dedicated solos through the album, that really is a secret ingredient in Gexerott's composition for being melodic and atmospheric and they did well to compare with their first album "Grim Arcane Winds".Overall this is a production wise album that will make sure you wouldn't want to miss any release from this band in near future!
