Taake celebrate their 20 year anniversary in 2013, and a part of the celebration is the anniversary compilation “Gravkamre, Kroner og Troner”. The compilation is a 2 CD release with 20 songs, and consists of previously unreleased or rare material, as well as alternative versions and recordings which have previously only been available on vinyl.

Disc 1 opens with 2 new and exclusive tracks, “Et Pust av Oeyne” and “Hov var Stein”, in the good and familiar Taake soundscape. The new tracks are followed by the entire “Kveld” ep from 2011, with quality guest appearances by Niklas Kvarforth and Nocturno Culto on “Nordbundet”, and then rounded off with the 3 cover songs “I Am the Black Wizards” (Emperor), “Die When You Die” (GG Allin) and “A Lost Forgotten Sad Spirit” (Burzum).

Disc 2 opens with the entire “Svartekunst” ep from 2007, followed by miscellaneous songs taken from different split ep’s, and then rounded off with a pre-mix of “Nattestid ser Porten vid 1″ from 1997.

I do miss the older content, for instance from the beginning of Taake and the demo days. However, the compilation from 2004, “Helnorsk Svartmetall”, features such material and I guess that will have to do.

“Gravkamre, Kroner og Troner” is a pretty cool collection of old and new Taake material, and a good way to get your hands on some rare music which has been unavailable until now. Also, this compilation might be aimed at those who, for whatever reason, aren't able to play the original vinyls. It’s an overall massive collection and a must for most Taake fans, and at the same time a good introduction to what Taake is all about.

Congratulations on reaching the 20 year milestone, and may there be many good years to come. Raise your glass to Taake! Cheers!!
