Founded in 2014, The Father Of Serpents is a Serbian gothic/doom/death metal band and have released its first full length album "Age Of Damnation" under Satanath Records in 2017.These Serbians really did well on this particular album despite being their first ever released material.

"Age Of Damnation" is an album full of despair and sorrow, a common topic for a normal and typical gothic/doom/death metal band but in a good sense that they managed to create their own identity by composing 10 mournful tracks. The music is orchestrated entirely by sadness and pain of living this life through the composition and arrangement that will make one fall for it in no time. The flow is constantly slow and mid-paced which is a must for this kind of genre but there are some intense parts to occasionally suit the mood changes. Brilliant guitar playing which has enough elements needed, heavy and dreadful with clean parts within the song structures. Pure melancholic element through violin playing which adds up to the composition. The bass parts are excellent and really helps the drummer to deliver the tone to the fullest and thus enhance the musical direction throughout the album while the vocals are wonderful death grunts, guttural and solid with some clean parts to bring up the mood effectively.Excellent production is the main highlight of this release with all instruments are well balanced and the output is amazing and quite surprising for a debut album.

The entire journey through pain and sadness clocks over 50 minutes of playtime and it's not your typical gothic/doom/death release to be honest. There are lots of memorable parts of this release that will haunt you for quite some time which indicates that this is a superb album to own and support, without doubt. This may be the first material to be released but The Father Of Serpents has been doing this for quite sometime based on their musicianship and consistency in their musical direction. This is what we lack in today's extreme metal scene and something needs to be done, that's for sure. Recommended for fans of Saturnus, Paradise Lost and Novembers Doom.
